About Fran Shockley

I am a professional genealogist and genetic genealogy specialist with a background in nursing. I have been a nurse since 1991 and hold a BSN. I am now semi-retired and have used my genealogy skills in a variety of ways, including helping brain injury patients reconnect with their families.

I have been researching my own family for more than 30 years. In 2018, I expanded from traditional genealogy into genetic genealogy. Since then, I have solved dozens of unknown parentage cases and developed a strong interest in using DNA evidence together with documentary research.

I have completed several genealogy classes and study programs, including SLIG’s Assemblage: Preparing, Writing, and Revising Case Studies, the Research Like a Pro Genealogy eCourse, and two Research Like a Pro DNA study groups, where I served as peer group leader for both. I also continue to learn through presentations and conferences.

My goal is to help people uncover family stories, solve mysteries, rebuild historical communities, and build stronger connections to the past.
